ssh.1.2.26.1.m.README Julu 20, 1998 These archives contains an Installer.app package for SSH (Secure Shell), version 1.2.26 (port 1), a program to log into another computer over a network, to execute commands in a remote machine, and to move files from one machine to another. It provides strong authentication and secure communications over insecure channels. It is intended as a replacement for rlogin, rsh, rcp, and rdist. This build of ssh uses RSAREF, which makes ssh legal to use within the US. See NOTES for more details. file: ssh.1.2.26.1.m.NIS.b.tar.gz sum: 11918 812 md5sum: bbbcfbba752ab88979f7b9433c8b3a1a file: ssh.1.2.26.1.m.s.tar.gz sum: 51130 569 md5sum: 3eba2ffb402bd754e56827f15ff8af1a INSTALLATION Unpack the tar.gz archive, and use Installer.app to install to /usr/local. This location is hardcoded, so if you want to install elsewhere, you'll need to recompile ssh yourself. The Installer package includes a post_install script to create a ssh host key and default host and server config files (all in /etc) if they don't already exist. You'll need to manually launch the sshd server (in /usr/local/sbin) or add it to /etc/rc.local if you wanted it started automatically upon every reboot of your machine. You'll need to make the ssh program setuid root (it is not set, by default), if you want to use it's rhost capabilities. This installation requires the following frameworks: GMP.framework (v >= 2.0.0.0) RSAref.framework (v >= 2.0.0.0) TCPWrap.framework (v >= 7.6.0.4) Zlib.framework (v >= 1.0.4.0) (** The frameworks can be found at http://www.peak.org/openstep/mach/sourcelibrary/frameworks/ ftp://next-ftp.peak.org/pub/openstep/mach/sourcelibrary/frameworks/ **) NOTES If you are in the US, you are required to use this RSAref version of ssh (don't blame me, it's an RSA patent issue). Furthermore, ssh cannot be exported from the US. CHANGELOG.
