There are three steps involved in the installation of Quantrix. 1. Pull the packages down to your local workstation and extract them. To extract them, type the following commands: gunzip -c FilterServicer.pkg.tar.gz | tar xf - gunzip -c Quantrix.pkg.tar.gz | tar xf - gunzip -c QAPI.pkg.tar.gz | tar xf - 2. Install the Quantrix.pkg and QAPI.pkg to a directory of your choice using NeXT's Installer.app. 3. Install the FilterService.service to a directory of your choice using NeXT's Installer.app if you plan to import ".imx" files into Quantrix. Files exported from Lotus Improv for Windows or Improv for NeXT can be directly imported into Quantrix. The filter service is a translation program that NEXTSTEP automatically runs to convert documents from one type to another. The installation of the Quantrix filter services is very similar to the installation of the Quantrix Application. To install the filters for your own use only: Select FilterServicer.service in the File Viewer and drag it into your personal Library/Service folder (~/Library/Services ). You may have to create this folder first. To install the filters for use by everybody on your system: You will probably need to log out and log in as root. Drag the FilterServicer.service icon into the /LocalLibrary/Services folder. You may need to create this folder first. Log out and log in again to ensure the services are registered. Warning: The FilterServicer.service is the same for Quantrix and TaskMaster. If you have the Quantrix manual, please refer to Appendix B (Importing Files from Lotus Improv) for further information. The Foundation and the EO+Foundation directories are versions of Quantrix that have been linked using NeXT's EOF and foundation libraries, and just the foundation libraries. These can be downloaded if you use EO or Foundation library objects in your QAPI bundles.
