TCPWrap.7.6.0.4.m.README May 16, 1998 This archive contains an Installer.app package for an OpenStep framework for tcp_wrappers v7.6. With this package you can monitor and filter incoming requests for the SYSTAT, FINGER, FTP, TELNET, RLOGIN, RSH, EXEC, TFTP, TALK, and other network services The package provides tiny daemon wrapper programs that can be installed without any changes to existing software or to existing configuration files. The wrappers report the name of the client host and of the requested service; the wrappers do not exchange information with the client or server applications, and impose no overhead on the actual conversation between the client and server applications. file: TCPWrap.7.6.0.4.m.NIS.b.tar.gz sum: 34794 160 md5sum: ecf5be5018ec5b641e8a2172f4e147c7 Source available on request. (** to be placed at http://www.peak.org/openstep/mach/sourcelibrary/frameworks/ ftp://next-ftp.peak.org/pub/openstep/mach/sourcelibrary/frameworks/ **) INSTALLATION Install the framework to /LocalLibrary/Frameworks. This is the easiest place to put it, and software built with this framework expects it to be there. Alternate locations are possible, only if you know what you are doing and/or you don't mind playing with the Makefile in the framework to change the default installation parameters. NOTES I configured this version of tcp_wrappers to use the LOG_AUTH syslog facility (which varies from the default LOG_MAIL). CHANGELOG May 16, 1998 (7.6.0 port 4) - Make local versions of setenv(=tcp_setenv), putenv(=tcp_putenv) - Make tcpd statically linked. - Enable gzipped package. See CHANGELOG inside of framework for more detailed list of recent changes. CREDITS Source ???
