DogWhistle

DogWhistle can be seen as either a remote-control for the Tracker, or as an Explorer-like tree-view app. Based on the principle of not re-inventing the wheel, it opens and closes Tracker windows you select in its tree-view, thus providing all the functionality of the Tracker with the flexibility and intuitiveness of a tree-based view of the filesystem.

Operation

Click on a directory name to open a Tracker window, double-click to close (If Close Previous Window is enabled, windows will be automatically closed when you open a new one). Click on the triangles to expand the tree view.

You can open multiple windows in Close Previous Window mode by shift-clicking in the tree view.

You can customise the root of the tree by adding (or deleting) symlinks to folders to the folder /boot/home/config/settings/DogWhistle

Options

Options are accessed via the right mouse button. Currently there are two options:

Close Previous Window
When this option is enabled, the previous tracker window will be closed when you open the next window. When disabled, all windows will remain open until manually closed. This option is enabled by default.
Attract Windows
When this option is enabled, each window that is opened will be moved next to the main DogWhistle window. This option is disabled by default.
