MIDI Keyboard


MIDI Keyboard is a software MIDI keyboard. You can use it to generate MIDI messages using the mouse or pc keyboard and to view MIDI from other programs or a physical input.

Playing using the mouse

You can play the keyboard by clicking the primary or tertiary mouse button. they support different playing modes:

Playing using the pc keyboard

When midikeyboard's window has the keyboard focus it's possible to play using the pc keyboard. two octaves (zsxdcvgbhnjm, q2w3er5t6y7u on an american keyboard layout) and the spacebar for sustain are used. The up/down arrows are for transpose.

Clicking the keyboard with the secondary mouse button accesses the keyboard menu. With it you can:


Status View

In the lower left corner of midikeyboard's window is the status view. A blue light indicates MIDI data on it's input. The value of the last note it played/received is displayed for some time (clicking in the status view with the secondary mouse button toggles midi number display on/off).

You can resize midikeyboard's window so the status view and the scrollbar are hidden.

When more than one instance of midikeyboard is running, the producer/consumer id is displayed in the title bar.
