Description: GUI Frontend for MP3 Encoder Gogo
Thanks To:
Brian Tietz for Santa's Gift Bag.
What is it?
GoGo Gadget is a GUI frontend to the mp3 encoder called GoGo.
Some Instructions:
1)Make sure that you have the gogo application in /boot/home/config/bin or the
path to it in your PATH environment variable otherwise it won't work. Also it has to be named "gogo"
2)You can use Marco Nelissen's CDDA-FS to mount your Audio CDs on your desktop. You can get it
from his web page at http://www.xs4all.nl/~marcone/be.html.
3)Drag the wav files onto the file list view.
4)Type in or Drag and drop the directory where you want to save the files into the "Save In" entry field.
5)Select the different options.
6)Click on the encode button and sit back.
How to apply tags:
After you have all your files added, you can change the mp3 ID3 tags for the files each one at a time or in groups.
Note you will need to switch to the "MP3 Tags" tab before reading on.
To change the tags for a SINGLE file, select the audio file you want to modify the mp3 tag for. Enter the relevant information into the
appropriate fields and then click on the "Apply Tags" button.
To change the tags for MULTPLE files at the same time. Select multiple files in the list by either using clicking and holding down
the SHIFT key to select multiple adjacent files, or hold down the "Windows" key or right "Control" key for non adjacent files.
Next enter the relevant info into the ID3 tag fields and check the boxes that you want to ONLY apply for those files. So if you want
to change the genre of all the files to be "Classical", select the files, select the genre, make sure only the "Genre" checkbox is
selected in the box to the right of the ID3 tag fields and click apply. This will set only the Genre ID3 tag for each of the selected file.
This is handy when you want to modify only the comment, genre, year, etc.. tags for specific files without overwriting the artist, song
title, etc...
Known problems or bugs:
- Make things more configurable.
- Add some error checking to see why gogo did not encode.
- Scripting.
- Email me at derhally@desertnights.com for any
features you would like to see.
- NOTE: If something doesn't work right, run GoGo Gadget from the terminal and look at the text it prints out. That might
be useful.
Fixed/implemented in version 0.78:
- Fixed bug with %c not being recognized.
- Fixed bug with updating the status when using gogo 2.35
- Fixed bug with not being able to encode anymore after removing all items.
- Track numbers below 10 are ouputted with a leading 0.
Fixed/implemented in version 0.77:
- GGG will now save the the following settings:
"delete input file after encoding"
"Disable psycho-accoustics"
"Output filename as:"
- Removed the "create directory", you can now add the path in the "output filename" field. For example, you can specify
MyMusic/PetShopBoys/%c/%t-%s, and it will create the directory MyMusic/PetShopBoys/Very for you, and store the files in there.
Thanks to Georges-Edouard Berenger, aka geb for the idea.
- GGG should now put up an alert if there was a failure in creating the directory.
Fixed/implemented in version 0.75:
- Added option for setting gogo's priority.
- The user now has more control over the output name.
%n = Save As name
%c = Album name
%s = Song title
%a = Artist's name
%y = Year
%t = Truck number
Anything else you enter will be copied to the output. For example if you put "%c-%t-%n-BeUser", the output name will be
something like "Very-14-MySong-BeUser".
- Note, I lost the source to version 0.7 so you might find some problems in this version that were not in 0.7.
- Thanks to Sanders for the new cool icon.
Fixed/implemented in version 0.7:
- Added option to hide/show the columns in the file listing.
- Added option to create a directory with the name of the album, or artist, or artist with album as sub-directory.
- Added option to create output filename as Song Name, or Track-Song Name, or Track-Album-Song Name, or Artist-Track-Song Name.
- GGG will check to see if the directory the user is saving to is on a read only volume and will alert the user accordingly.
- Fixed a couple of bugs dealing with encoding more files after being done with the first batch.
- Added option to turn off tooltips.
Fixed/implemented in version 0.6:
- Added MP3 ID3 tag support.
- Added MP3 ID3 tag attribute support.
- Added option to create directory with the same name as the album name in the output directory.
- Added option to search and get audio cd files from audio CDs using cdda-fs.
It will fill in the mp3 ID tag fields for Artist and Album automatically as long as the CD was already looked
up in cddb.
- Added button to select the output directory through an open dialog box.
Fixed/implemented in version 0.5:
